well we're off and with so many suggestions, recommendations and must do's, it's hard to decide which gustatory pleasures take precedence over others. so to make matters worse i'm going to ask you all to add to the list.......just in case!
first stop is tokyo, joining a friend on his last weekend in japan after living and working there for 2 years, something tells me he's on a mission to wring every last morsel out of japan and drag us both down with him!

Hey you two.....
Oh my god! What an amazing pictorial record so far....Sorry for the delay with the places to eat in NY, but here you go:
Per Se - dinner - fabby food and fabby view
Le Bernadin - not so fabby food and not so fabby view
Le Pain Quotidien - breakie chain, but they make their own bread and jams (We went to the Lexington Ave one - small and cute)
Gramercy Tavern - Excellent Mod American
Rooftop Garden Cafe at Met Museum of Art - Absolutely spectacular view even if you have to sip your mojito out of plastic cup (We didn't eat anything and you shouldn't either)
Oyster Bar - At Grand Central Station for oysters of course. They had 4o odd varieties when we went their. Be careful, be very careful of the oyster soup! (Yuck, yuck, yuck!!)Amasingly fresh oysters though!!!
Grand Sichuan - Great hot pot
Jean George - great for lunch opposite the bottom entrance to Central Park
Cubana Cafe - small place in Thompson Street. Not on any guides. Great chickpea salad.
Blue Ribbon - Served by an opera singer. Great atmosphere, not so great food. Good but not fantastic.
Lupa - I think you would really like this place. Great cured meats and excellent pasta. Up market Italian perhaps.
Cafe Boulud
Tamarind
Buddah Bar - for cocktails
Pastis for everything else
Katz's Deli for a Pastrami on Rye
and Russ and Daughters for smoked and cured salmon from all over the world.
You might have enough here to start you off, but my recommendation is for you to purchase the Zagat Guide: NY eating at all levels really.
Have fun eating and drinking and keep the photos coming.
Cheers, Kathryn
